Wednesday 12 August

Well, as you see, I have now completely revamped the front page of Atlantic Lines. There are now two sidebars, one with info about moi, the other with general bits and pieces. Hope you like it. I have removed the front picture, as I found it a bit too large and standing in the way of loading the blog quickly. There is now a random selection of two pictures (always different when you load the blog) at the top.

Breezy, bright and fairly sunny this afternoon, with some showers about.

Locally, a former Traditional Gold Medal winner at the Royal National Mod, Joyce Murray, has died suddenly at the age of 61. Joyce was a presenter at our local radio station Isles FM, and featured as a singer on the fund-raising CD "Langass" for the station in 2005. I cannot find a public recording on the Internet of the song she performed (Oran Do Iain Bhreac) for the CD.
Her husband was killed in an accident after the 2004 Lewis Carnival, when he fell off a float returning from the procession. Joyce was found dead in her house on the West Side of Lewis on Monday evening.

  1. your blogs new look is great!

  2. I think your new look is wonderful. I'll miss the beach picture but agree it was large. The heading picture on my blog is too big too. I haven't been able to find a nice sized one yet. You have a lot in the side bars and I've not checked it all out yet, but I will.

  3. I am sorry but I find side bars totally distracting from what the blog is trying to convey.
I have a disability that does not give me the luxury of removing the background be it sound or sight.
    I loved your header picture.
I am sorry you have removed it.

  4. Liz,
I am grateful to you for your frank and honest feedback. The impression it has given myself from the start has been 'cluttered', and I'll continue to think about the lay-out. I may reinstate the header pic.

  5. I like the new look! Sorry for the loss of Joyce. :(

    be well...
