Misleading

AOL Video Uncut was shut down on Thursday, and their site now redirects to Motionbox.com, another video upload site. The email that AOL sent me about that suggests that they would transfer the videos that used to be on Uncut to Motionbox. There is nothing on the Motionbox.com website that suggests that this is actually possible, being done.

I copy the relevant paragraph:

Our records show that you had uploaded videos to the site. While the AOL Video Uploads site is no longer available, we have made your videos available to be transferred to Motionbox.com for a limited time. Learn more at Motionbox.

No, that's not the case at all. Motionbox offer former Uncut users a premium membership at a reduced rate for 30 days. No videos have been transferred at all. I copied mine to YouTube the moment the closure of Uncut was announced.

AOL?

  1. well if that is true, i have lost precious videos...i did not do anything except download them to motionbox.com. I did not pay them anything. That is very upsetting. Those videos were on Megan graduating and i can not get them back.

  3. I double the cat's gesture towards AOL. I have tried to download my albums from their website today and they keep pushing me back to Photoworks where I have sent them already.
There seems to be no way of downloading them onto my computer as they offer on their web page. It keeps returning to the same page once I try to download. It's a dead end unless you do as they want you to.

  5. Hi everyone -- The deal is that you click on the transfer link in your AOL account and they get transferred over to a Motionbox account which is a Basic (free) account. Premium just gives you more options for HD and downloading, etc but no need to choose Premium.
