Christmas - 2007

Christmas last year was tainted with sadness in J-land, as was, with the loss of two of its writers on both days. On Christmas Day, Lahoma (who used the AOL screenname of mzgoochi) passed away after a struggle with cancer. On Boxing Day, Kim (demandnlilchit) followed in her footsteps, also succumbing to cancer. I hope Christmas this year will be a merrier affair, although the community doesn't seem to be the same after our expulsion from AOL.

  1. you know what? I am so glad you are my friend. Really. This place is weird....i mean, nothing like J land to me at least..but i am So thankful for the friends i still have. I received your Christmas card yesterday!! I was SO happy....you have NICE NICE handwriting. Lahoma meant the world to Nelishia. I know she'll be sad. I am thankful we are able to be there for each other in whatever way we can, still. And YOU will always be our guiding light.

  2. I think we are all still the same Guido, just a little fragmented. It does't help not having e-mail updates on each others blogs. Some folks have found out how to do that, like yourself, but not everyone has found out how to do that yet. I thought I had using feedblitz. I thought it would appear on my blog after I filled in all the bumf it asked but it must have been for something else. I am still picking up various journalers whom I lost in the change over. Carpe Diem today being one of them.
At least you are our constant that we can pivot around until we all find each other again.

  3. I miss KIm and Lahoma. They both fought so hard to stay here on earth with us. Lahoma was still making entries from her ward. Bless her! We all have fond memories of them both. Kim especially with her humour, her craze for new boots and her lovely irish blue eyes.
I still see her sitting on the shore at sunset waiting for 'the boys' to come home from fishing. Their lantern signalling in the darness as the golden sun dipped low.
She is there still in my mind.

  4. I appreciate your tribute to two lovely people.

I've found both good and bad about the big move from J-land. It's somewhat harder to keep track of buddies, but I've rediscovered friends I'd lost, and also found new ones I never knew before.

  5. Nice of you to remember them at this time, Guido!! They were wonderful people and are missed terribly! Saying prayers for their families at this time, it must be a hard season for them.

  7. I thought about both of the girls alot over this holiday season - wondering how their families are getting along and hoping they are doing the best they can under the circumstances. I don't think it will ever be the same again - as much as we've grown to loathe AOL....it was home, it was OUR home and there will never be another place like it for our community regardless of how hard we try.

  8. I didn't know Lahoma until after the fact, Guido. It was so sad because reading her journal after she was gone, I realized I had missed out on a wonderful person. I thank God for all those I've found again here at blogger and you have been detrimental with that. Blessings to you....
