Missing - bad outcome

Contents warning: may upset

A few days ago, I noticed a tweet from Sarah Brown, the wife of the UK prime minister Gordon Brown, that a 12-year old girl from Dordrecht, Holland, had been reported missing. A poster was linked to, provided by the Dutch national police.

Today, I received an email from my father, who is not on Twitter, saying that a girl of 12 was found murdered in Dordrecht. She had been taken across the street by a neighbour, killed and buried in the man's garden. He was a police officer. The Dutch national police fear a backlash against their officers, who are there to protect and serve.

Some of you are deeply involved with the Amber Alerts that go out for missing children. This was an Amber Alert, which can now be stood down. Unfortunately, for the wrong reason.

  1. God bless her Guido. She would never have imagined that she could not trust this man (beast!)
Her poor parents must be devastated. The community will now become suspicious of what others hide behind their garden walls if this pillar of the community was not to be trusted.

  2. How very sad. As Jeanie said, she would have trusted this man to look after her. May she rest in peace and may God comfort her family.

  3. It is so sad that we are now being forced into a situations where we are all having to be suspicious of everyone and everything...What a world we are coming to when we fear to trust...
God bless, the wee lass and her parents. And also all the true and uprght policemen of whom there are many but will now all be tarnished with the same brush...
