Blogger Community Photo Challenge

Mailboxes is the subject of this challenge. Well, this picture dates from 6 August 2006 and shows a house in the village of Laxay, some 12 miles south of Stornoway in the Isle of Lewis (Scotland). The microwave oven on the post is actually the mailbox for 38 Laxay.

  5. I don't think that would work here in the U.S. The postal department has 'regulations' about mail boxes. But I admire those folks. They used what was handy and it will certainly keep their mail dry until they can collect it. Great picture. Linda in rainy, windy & cold Washington state

  8. Great idea! The mailbox on the outside of my house does not have a key and leaks, so I might try something like this myself
