Tuesday 5 August

Stornoway has greyed out this morning, with some light rain about. A light southerly breeze and 15C on the thermometer.

Since 21 July, I have been monitoring a tropical disturbance, which turned into tropical storm Genevieve in the eastern Pacific. Although it lost tropical cyclone status twice during its lifetime, the system is currently 60 degrees west of the location of its birth (which was near 12N 110W), and headed out of the western hemisphere. Once west of the dateline, Genevieve is expected to be a typhoon, headed northwest into the vast emptiness of the northern Pacific.
