Wednesday 9 September

To quote the National Hurricane Center, nines must have gone wild today. It's 09/09/09, and at 09:09:09 it was nines all the way. Tropical storm Erica, somewhere in the eastern Pacific, had its 9th warning at 09:00 GMT on 09/09/09 and thus we can continue for a little while yet.

At any rate, it's quietened down greatly since yesterday - we're down to force 4, and it was nice and fairly sunny. Cruiseliner Astor was hiding off Lower Sandwick today, as its tenders went back and forth to take its passengers ashore for tours of the island. A cargo boat, due in yesterday, docked at the Fabrication Yard. I don't know what it's doing there; the Yard is a mile away, and I cannot discern what its two cranes are taking on or off board.

Spend part of the afternoon looking up more information for the Uist war memorials; only have Barra left to do, which is about 150 names.
