View across the Outer Harbour of Stornoway

Wednesday 7 October

A cold day, with bright intervals and heavy showers, quite a few with hail. Temperature managed double figures, but is presently at 6C. Went out by car to Great Bernera, 25 miles west of Stornoway as had not visited that place for over a year. Bernera is a relatively small island, just off the west coast of Lewis, quite rocky and with a very scenic, rocky shoreline. Visited Bosta Beach, on the northern shore of Bernera, and the adjacent cemetery where I discovered another dozen war-related gravestones.
