Reading of blogs
I have fallen way behind with the reading of blogs, and hope to catch up at some stage. Sorry if I have missed anything of note.
Tuesday 8 September
Overcast and very windy indeed. The wind is touching galeforce, and is expected to rise further to force 9, which involves windspeeds of 45 mph sustained. There are warnings out for gusts up to 80 mph later this afternoon. As I type, spray is blowing over the causeway across the water. We have no ferry service to Ullapool at all today (both crossings cancelled), and there is major disruption right across the west coast of Scotland. Planes are flying normally, although I wouldn't fancy a flight out of here today. If you want to monitor current conditions at Eoropie, 25 miles north of Stornoway near the Butt of Lewis, you can have a look here.
