Two days ago, I was prompted to update the Java on my computer to version 6.0, update 16. The result has been a bit of a disaster, and I have now completely removed Java. When clicking links that look like they have some javascript behind them, they did not work. They did work upon removing the Java. And ceased working when Java was reinstalled. So, if anyone out there has any ideas how to sort this, I'd be much obliged.

I updated Java and have now got that toolbar on my computer which is pretty but how many toolbars do I need? Otherwise I have not noticed any dif. I asked my son if I should do this a while back and he said yes, so I took his advice. Don't know as that will be much help to you.
ReplyDeleteMy husband did the same thing a couple of days ago to HIS computer & his computer started running slow as molasses. I don't know what he did as far as installing it, but he didi do a system restore back a few days. Defragged. Viral scan. It seemed to be back to itself by then. He has a program for work that HAS to have Java to operate so he has to have the updates too. Every now & then I think an occasional update has a hinky file or something. I hope you've figured it out by now. I am nearly computer illiterate.
ReplyDeleteHope the rest of your week goes better.

My home and my work computers both got the Java up date and everything seems fine here. Hope you get it all worked out. Maybe just installing it fresh from the start would help. There is an option at some point that has you click if you want the tool bar...I didn't get that on.
