Tuesday 11 November

Two minutes' silence at 11 am this morning signalled the 96th anniversary of the Armistice at the end of World War One. Another 7 months were to elapse before the war was over, during which many of those injured in the conflict succumbed to their wounds. And several dozen sailors died on board the German Hochseeflotte when it was scuttled in Scapa Flow - without their prior knowledge. I visited their graves six years ago, and remember them, alongside the other casualties from all nationalities who fell during the Great War.

  1. Such a huge sacrifice was made on every Allied front to keep the world safe from the tyranny of the Nazi regime. God bless us as much in the next threat.
