Overcast today, but dry. Rain covers the Scottish mainland north and northwest of Inverness, but whatever rain we had has now moved away east. The moutains on the mainland, 50 miles to the east, stand out fairly clearly this afternoon. It does not feel very warm at all, with the mercury only just above 10C today.

Locally, it appears to be a thin news day, which is not unusual. Just been into town myself for a few bits and pieces, including (on request) a book on Norse Mills in this island. Late in August, I went on a guided tour with a dozen other folks to half a dozen sites where mills used to be situated. It was an interesting trip, not just because of the subject matter, but also because the weather was plain awful - wet and cold.
