Bright day, with a fair bit of cloud about. Typical summer's day, temperature at a temperate 15C / 60F this morning. It was pouring with rain last night, so us in the Western Isles missed out on the Perseid meteor shower. This was reported to be a spectacular event, pity.
During the last week in August, the Faclan book festival will be held in the Western Isles, centered on the An Lanntair arts centre in Stornoway. Apart from lectures, there will also be excursions across the islands. More info here.
A few hundred miles south of here, the Tall Ships are in Belfast and opening their doors (read: decks) to the thousands.
Guido, I love your header picture - that road is fantastic. How neat it must be to travel on a road like that.
ReplyDeleteI saw the tall ships when they were in Baltimore many years ago. It was such an awesome sight to see.
We couldn't see either, too cloudy. :( A friend in Missouri saw 13 in about 10 minutes time!
ReplyDeletebe well...
Beautiful picture there Guido. Makes me want to take a walk ... through Lewis!
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky at the moment Guido that we are having two or three days of summer sunshine...I was on the tall ship "Lord Nelson" what a wonderful feeling it is...I have had a wee peep at the Belfast site and see that the "Tanacious" is there, that is the sister ship to the "Lord Nelson". It is looking good.
ReplyDeleteLove Sybil xx
Living in the heart of a city it's hard to see the Perseids but we usually go out to the country, put the convertible top down and watch them. Didn't do it this year.
ReplyDeleteWish I could see the tall ships.
Your header photo, as usual is fantastic. I love your photos.
Have a good weekend.
