Blogging

Blogging seems to be falling by the wayside. At least that is the impression after going through journals this afternoon, and encountering one who is quitting and several who resumed posting after an absence of up to 3 months. It would appear that Facebook is a major distraction, but also the distractions of real life. Naturally, with the global economic situation being dire, that would be a contributing factor. Nonetheless, I do not suggest to quit Facebook or to live inside your computer (something I've been accused of doing), but to use the blog for things you cannot do on Facebook, as a complimentary element. Personally, I use Twitter, Facebook and this (and other) blog(s).

We used to have a nice community, and AOHell have a lot to answer for. But we know they didn't care. Keep in touch, won't ya?

  1. You're right Guido. I too am not posting as much. I sort of lost interest for some reason. I still read, but I don't feel as if I have much to say anymore. I mean, who wants to hear my stories about Hospice? I don't want to be writing sad things all the time.
I hope you keep writing here.

  2. Hi Guido, I do agree with you, like Pamela I seem to have lost interest up to a point. I suppose because my own `real` life has been so busy of late it`s easy to not be as bothered as I was. I do miss some journals though and intend to catch up soon. Take care. :o)

  3. It must be something in the water Guido. I'm thinking of heading back here from FB. It's not all it's cracked up to be. Aol does have a lot to answer for, you're right there. I'm ashamed to say I always head back here when I'm in trouble, or hurting. it's still home to me. There's no place like home, is there? I guess it's because you are our constant.
My son just came in and saw your new photo and said "WOW" I have to agree with him. I love it.
    Take care Guido.

  4. Having written all my life, I recognize the signs of just beginning to realize that writing is a habit one has to develop regardless of discouragement which was happening in J-land, too. When all is said and done those who find that writing a blog has its rewards will stick with it, and they will also begin to emerge as writers with muscle. Ever finding new reasons and better ways to keep up a blog. Twitter, too, and facebook if you can handle it. I have videos with Doc which takes up considerable time and reading and family site and so I can't expand to too many blogs or I will fail to be a good follower. Gerry

  5. I like facebook but it doesn't compare to words written with thought and purpose. The main reason I blog is that I always seem to have more words to say that fit into the allowed quota.

  6. I LOVE blogging and reading blogs, just sincerely find it VERY hard to find the time!!! FB and twitter are SO MUCH faster for keeping in touch, but blogging is so much more fun and personal... I just wish I had more time!!!

  7. Guido, I write everyday because I enjoy it. I tried facebook for two days. Not much substance there. I think blogging is not going to be overcome by twittering, or other such bites.

  8. for me, FB has nothing to do with it. Internet blogging is not safe at all for some. You are a forever friend though....even if we do not read about each others lives like we used to.

  9. I don't care for facebook or twitter so will continue to blog. It's not the same as AOL though. Maybe people have to many choices.

  10. As julie says I think that now there are so many choices that many of our friends are finding their time taken up in other ways...
But one things for sure my life would be a very poor place without your words each and every day..
    Love as usual, Sybil

  12. I quit face book and will not quit blogging for sure. I miss the aol journals but don't find it difficult to use blogger. I do miss the entries many used to make, but they are not the reason I write. It seems there are many of us that feel the same

  13. Well Guido,

I have a FB space but rarely use it. I haven't got the same time to pop over there. I am one who has been away for a while but I hope to rectify that soon. Even if I just write a load of drivel. Thow who call by will just have to put up with it. lol!
You have always been a constant for we AOL bloggers and I hope you always will be.
Shame about the wind turbines. Whatever became of the hydro electric wave thingumyjig?
Is that still a pipe dream?
My eyes lit up when I saw your super sheep photo. What a great shot that is! Clever fellow!
